Gayman, Sommer pick up All-Conference honors

A quartet of Nevada Tiger basketball players garnered All-West Central Conference accolades, while Tigers' star forward Clay Gayman was the top vote-getter.

Tigers named to the All-WCC Team, were: Gayman and Nevada senior point guard Matthew Sommer. Gayman led Nevada in scoring and rebounding, averaging 23.6 points and 11.1 rebounds per game, to go along with 3.5 blocked shots a game.

According to information distributed to the Daily Mail, Gayman was the only unanimous selection. Sommer, meanwhile, had a terrific senior campaign, averaging 13.4 points and 5.5. assists per game. Sommer concluded his prep career No. 8 on the Nevada boys' all-time scoring list with 1,257 points, while Gayman checks in at No. 4 with 1,406 points.

West Central Conference honorable mention selections, include: Seniors Myles McNeley and Patrick Ferry. McNeley was Nevada's starting shooting guard and one of its top perimeter defenders, while Ferry, a forward, averaged 5.5 points and 3.1 rebounds per contest.

Nevada fell to Grandview 72-45 in Friday's Class 4 District 12 title game. The Tigers finished its season 23-4 overall ---- and with the third best win percentage in program history.
