Hart breaks record

The Nevada Middle School track-and-field team resumed competition at Thursday’s Webb City Invitational. One of Nevada’s top performances came from seventh-grader Lily Hart, who leaped to a new school record in the high jump.

Hart’s jump of 4-feet and 10-inches, surpassed the record set by Candy Mason in 1989, of 4-feet 9-inches. Mason is a former University of Kansas track-and-field phenom.

Hart’s jump, however, earned her a second-place finish, as the first-place finisher also cleared 4’10” but with one less miss.
