Perkey selected for commissioning

Chief Perkey is a native of Nevada. He is married to Jennifer Perkey and has two children, Hayden and Madelyn Perkey. He is the son of David Perkey, Nevada, and Suzan Pauley, Farragut, Iowa. He is a 2003 graduate of Nevada High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in August 2005 and completed Basic Training as well as Gas Turbine systems Technician “A” school at Great Lakes, Ill.

In February 2006, he reported to his first duty assignment aboard USS Princeton serving as MER 2 maintenance man. In 2007, he was selected as Carrier Strike Group Eleven’s Blue Jacket of the Quarter. Following his award he was meritoriously promoted to Third class Petty Officer.

In Nov. 2007, he reported to USS Sampson. While aboard, he advanced to Petty Officer Second class and earned his Enlisted Surface Warfare Specialist. There he served as MER2 Work Center Supervisor training and fitting out the Navy’s newest destroyer.

In April 2010, he reported to USS Spruance pre-commissioning unit. There he supported the new construction, acceptance trials and commissioning for the engineering department. While onboard he served as Oil lab, MER I, and MER2 Leading Petty Officer and Engineering Officer of the Watch. He was selected as Junior Sailor of the Quarter and was meritoriously promoted to Petty Officer First class.

In May 2014, he transferred to Recruit Training Command Great Lakes, where, as a Recruit Division Commander he transformed 528 civilians into sailors ready for the fleet. In 2015, he was selected as a Chief Petty Officer. In February 2016, Chief Perkey was selected for commissioning as a Surface Engineering Limited Duty Officer.

ENS Perkey will report to USS Chancellorsville in May 2017 as Assistant Chief Engineer and attend LDO/CWO commissioning school May 30 through June 23, 2017.
