Leon Hester, age 64, Hume, passed away on Monday, May 8, at his home. He was born on Jan. 26, 1953, at Fort Scott, the son of Herbert and Ellen Cummins Hester. He graduated from Pleasanton High School and Fort Scott Community College. Leon was an entrepreneur. He owned several different businesses during his career. The most recent were, Hill Street Recycling, Hester Roll Offs and Sisters and Friends Cafe.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Kathy; step-children, Michael McCulley, Ginger Neal-Cox, Amy Staton and Amber Staton; two brothers, Gerald Hester and Wayne Hester; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, May 10, at the Schneider Funeral Home and Crematory, Pleasanton Chapel, in Pleasanton, Kan. Services will be held following visitation at 7 p.m. The family suggests contributions to Creighton University Cancer Center.
