Detectives respond to deceased man

Vernon County Sheriff’s Officials confirmed Thursday morning that detectives with the investigations unit responded to the area of BB and Quail Road after the dispatch center received a call of an unresponsive person.

Investigators said the person was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as Edward L. Hallam, 36, of Nevada. According to the press release, suspected methamphetamines and drug paraphernalia were located at the scene and have been sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Crime Lab for analyses.

Vernon County Coroner David Ferry said, “No foul play is suspected at this time.”

Detectives are continuing the investigation and are awaiting toxicology reports from the coroner’s office and the body is set for an autopsy.
