Larry Dean Heitz, age 73, resident of Bronaugh, Mo., died Saturday, June 17, at his home. He was born Sept. 12, 1943, in Fort Scott, Kan., the son of John and Juanita Copeland Heitz. He graduated from Bronaugh High School with the class of 1962. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He married Linda Mack on April 23, 1975. They later divorced. Larry worked for various farms in the Bronaugh area and the grain elevator during his life. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching westerns on TV. He was a patriotic man who was proud of his service to our country. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was a member of the Nevada V.F.W. and the Hannon Freewill Baptist Church, Liberal, Mo.

Survivors include his daughter Carrie Earnest and husband Randy; a brother John Heitz and wife Debbie; a sister, Peggy Dickey, all of Bronaugh, Mo.; five grandchildren, Taylor, Koltin, Mattie, Garrett, and Isaac; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, June 23, in the U.S. National Cemetery, Fort Scott. Military honors will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Cheney Witt Chapel.
