Fern Elizabeth Watts

Fern Elizabeth Watts, 93, Nevada, passed from this life on June 23, at Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada. Fern was born Sept. 3, 1923, in Rushmore, Minn., to Daniel I. and Jeanetta Rose (Druger) VanHorsen. On Nov. 7, 1942, she married Cletus Gale Watts in Worthington, Minn., and he preceded her in death in March of 2000.

Fern was raised in Minnesota. She worked for a number of years at various factories in both Minnesota and Missouri. Fern was also a homemaker and a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed painting, sewing, crocheting, traveling with her family, fishing and cooking.

Survivors include one son, Richard Watts and his wife Wanda, Nevada; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Fjeildheim, Richard G. Watts, Kathryn Zachary and Ted Watts; seven great-grandchildren, Sven, Lars, Kaeth, Steven, Nathan, Britanie, Mariah; two great-great-grandchildren, Keaghan and Jett; two brothers, Frank VanHorsen, Adrian, Minn., Richard Lappin, Algona, Iowa; three sisters, Jeannetta Sorbe, Bloomington, Minn., Joan Hilgendorf, Welcome, Minn., and Carol Lewendowski, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband Cletus, she was preceded in death by two sons, Gale and infant John; and four brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Bro. Brent Bland officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
