Robert “Bob” Emerson Colopy

Robert “Bob” Emerson Colopy Sr., age 75, Nevada, was called home by the Lord on, Monday, Aug. 28. Bob was born Nov. 18, 1941, in Lockport, N.Y., to Emerson and Ruth (Marshall) Colopy.

Bob graduated from Lockport High School Class of 1954. In 1961 he joined the United States Army where he served as a sharpshooter (rifle M-74) until his discharge in 1964. Bob met his wife Gretta (Grigsby) Colopy in Osceola, Mo. They were married on July 1, 1967, in Osceola. Bob and Gretta celebrated 50 years together in July of 2017.

Bob worked for the Missouri Public Service company for 37.5 years, starting as a laborer in Clinton. For a time he also worked at the water plant there before transferring to Osceola, where he ran the Hydro plant for 4.5 years. In 1973 he came to Nevada and worked at the water plant, later becoming foreman over a crew. He became a gas serviceman and held this position until his retirement. Bob loved to be outdoors. He especially loved being a husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. Everyone that met Bob never forgot him. He loved to talk and tell stories to everyone he met.

In addition to his wife Gretta of the home, he is survived by four children, Robert Colopy Jr., and his wife, Tammy, Fulton, Mo., Gary Colopy and his wife, Nicole, Mississippi, Carmen Pike and her husband, Tandy, Nevada, Heather Feezell and her husband, Tim, Nevada; nine grandchildren, Noah, Isaiah and Nathan Colopy, Faith Johnson, Austin and TJ Pike, Dakota, Nikiya and Amiya Feezell; seven great-grandchildren, Kierstyn Colopy, Taiten and Tucker Pike, Jackson Feezell, Desiree Johnson, Audrey and Emma Colopy, and one on the way in December; one brother, Jerry Colopy and his wife, Odie, Lexington, Ky.; two sisters-in-law, Mary Blackwell and Rose Colopy; one brother-in-law, James Grigsby Sr.; and many more relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 2, at Ferry Funeral Home with a committal service following at Moore Cemetery, Nevada. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
