Billy Joe Willis, 60, Sheldon, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 17. He was born on Dec. 13, 1956, in Osceola, Mo., to Jack H. and Ina Mae (Brundage) Willis.

Billy, known as Bill to his many friends and family, had a kind heart. He graduated from Appleton City High School. Following high school, he lived for a time in Osceola and Rockville before making his home in Sheldon about 20 years ago. He led the simple life, never asking for much. Bill took pride in his gardening skills, and he also liked to hunt and fish. He was very close to his brother Jerry and was very proud of his nephew Dustin. You left us too soon Bill, you will be greatly missed.

Survivors include two brothers, Jack Willis Jr., Fort Scott and Jerry Willis, Nevada; three sisters, Chloe Mary Seelye, Amarillo, Texas, Janice Murback, Sugarland, Texas, and Sherry Young, Taiwan; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Dustin Willis, Sheldon. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Willis; and step-father, Leo Bernard; mother, Ina Bernard; and brother, Brian Loron Willis.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 29, at the Sheldon Baptist Church, Sheldon. Interment will follow in Sheldon Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada.
