Emily F. Barritt, 81, of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 21, at Medicalodges in Ft. Scott following a lengthy illness. Emily was born Sept. 17, 1936, in Lockwood, Mo., to Samuel Demby and Gertrude Blanche (Pyle) Rutledge. She was united in marriage to Lawrence Lee Barritt on Aug. 12, 1967, in Nevada and he preceded her in death on May 10, 1993.

Emily attended school and graduated from Stockton High School Class of 1955. Emily loved her Lord and was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister. She loved being with her family. She was a homemaker all of her life. Her hobbies included painting, crocheting and various crafts.

Emily is survived by her three children, Randy Ellifrits and his wife Tracy of Nevada, Brad Barritt and his wife Stacy, Youngsville, N.C., Pam Kalvelage and her husband John, Flower Mound, Texas; eight grandchildren, Andy Ellifrits, Jeremiah Ellifrits, Sam Ellifrits, Joy Bond, Andre Kalvelage, Cole Barritt, Allison Barritt and Sarah Barritt; four great-grandchildren, Aiden Ellifrits, Aiva Ellifrits, Payton Bond and Alexa Bond; two brothers, Demby Rutledge, Stockton, Gus Rutledge and his wife Patsy, Stockton; and one sister, Marcella Cotter, Springfield. In addition to her husband Lawrence, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 24, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Mark Mitchell officiating. Interment will follow in Clintonville Cemetery, El Dorado Springs. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home.
