Doris A. (Angel) Bell, age 81, of Branson West, Mo., formerly of Nevada, passed away Nov. 30, 2017.

She was born on May 18, 1936, to Herbert and Dora Mae (Crews) Angel in Nevada where she continued to live until the family moved to Kansas.

Following her 1954 graduation from Osawatomie High School in 1954, Doris joined the United States Air Force. She lived for a time in Mariposa, Calif., where she worked for State Farm. Here she enjoyed rally races with her roommate Stephanie driving and Doris navigating. Doris later returned to Nevada to help care for her father after he fell ill. It was here she met and later married Henry Wesley Bell on June 18, 1960. During her time here in Nevada, Doris’ family grew to include three children. The family moved to Pratt, Kan., in 1972. In Pratt, Doris owned and operated the Mode O’ Day store on Main Street before going to work at the Pratt Tribune in advertising. Following her husband’s death, she returned to Nevada to be closer to her aging parents and brother, Bill. Retiring from the state hospital in 1998, Doris filled her time with friends and family. She enjoyed reading mysteries, with James Patterson being one of her favorite authors. She also enjoyed flower gardening every season with red geraniums ever present on her front porch, walk and deck. A very important part of Doris’ life was spent rehabilitating and fostering rescued dogs until they found their forever family. Dogs held a special place in Doris’ heart. She was an active member and avid supporter of People for Pets, the ASPCA, Best Friends, The Humane Society and any furry friend she saw in need.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Henry Wesley Bell; her sister, Jo Ann (Angel) Ogle; her brother, William “Bill” Angel; and her niece, Tracy Angel. She is survived by her sons H. Douglas Bell, Shakopee, Minn., and Rex Bell, Longview, Texas; her daughter, Kelly Dicello and son-in-law Michael, Branson West, Mo.; grandsons, Corey Bell, Shakopee Minn., and Asher Dicello, Springfield, Mo.; granddaughter, Jessica Bell, Winfield, Kan.; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her two dogs Ginger and Sam of Branson West, Mo.

A Committal of Ashes will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 15, at Antioch Cemetery in Nevada and also in Mariposa County, Calif., at a later time. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
