David L. Loyd, 72, Nevada, passed away on Monday, Dec. 11, at Mercy Hospital in Joplin. David was born April 20, 1945, in Wichita, Kan., to Fred and Leva Vivian (Koblitz) Loyd. He married Janie Barbour on Feb. 17, 1995, in Miami, Okla., and she survives of the home.

David was raised in Schell City. He attended school in Schell City and Walker graduating from Walker High School Class of 1963. David farmed and operated Loyd’s Trucking Company for most of his life. He was a member of the Nevada BPO Elks No. 564, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles No. 3770, and Southwest Missouri Team Penning Association. He was a member of the Schell City Christian Church.

In addition to his wife Janie, he is survived by four children, Jimmy Loyd, Nevada, Bryan Loyd, Nevada, Sherry Hutson and her husband Doug, Neosho, and Kristi Townsend and her husband Brad, Clinton; eight grandchildren, Shaun McConnaughey, Neosho, Ryan McConnaughey, Neosho, Cody McConnaughey, Neosho, Trayce Bowling, Bronaugh, Josie Faibian, Nevada, Taylor Townsend, Rockville, Clayton Loyd, Sheldon, and Judd Loyd, Sheldon; seven great-grandchildren; mother, Leva Loyd, Nevada; one brother, Randy Loyd, Metz; seven sisters, Linda Luther, Metz, Sharon Hardy, Nevada, Connie Gerster, Walker, Debbie Keely, Phoenix, Ariz., Julie McCullick, El Dorado Springs, Kimma Hopkins, Yukon, Okla., and Vivian Morgan, El Dorado Springs; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father and one brother, Lonnie Loyd.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16, at Schell City Christian Church in Schell City, with Pastor Roger Beach officiating. Interment will follow in Green Mound Cemetery in Harwood. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Friday at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.
