Betty Jeanne Million

Wednesday, January 17, 2018

Betty Jeanne Million, 88, Nevada, was born on June 2, 1929, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Basil Foote and Blanche (Baker) Foote. Betty went to be with her Lord and Savior after an extremely short illness on Jan. 12.

Betty loved her family, especially her grandchildren, and she loved the Lord. She didn’t know a stranger and was referred to as Grandma Betty by a slew of people who shared no blood with her but loved her just the same. She was an active member of Pentecostal Assembly Church of Nevada and thought of her brothers and sisters in Christ as part of her family. The kids laughingly refer to her as a “trophy wife of a blue-collar man” as nobody can remember her ever working a day in their lives anyway. She loved working puzzles, watching game shows and her beloved soaps.

Betty married Scott Million, her life-long love, on May 24, 1955. They migrated to the area in 1966 from Iowa and lived in Bronaugh. Scott preceded her in death on May 28, 1983. Sometime after his death Betty moved to Spring Village in Nevada where she ranked as the resident who lived there the longest. She considered those at Spring Village her family as well.

Betty lost her only son, John S.F. Million, on Nov. 9, 1995, at the young age of 38 and learned to live with a life-long grieving process. She lost two other children in infancy. Betty was the only surviving matriarch of her family being preceded in death by five siblings.

Betty is survived by her only daughter, Lynn Johnston (Gary), Nevada; grandchildren, Bea Lyda, Oklahoma, John Howell, Nevada, Scotty McGaha, of Kansas, Angie Beckman (Jimmy), Nevada, Beau Johnston (Tara), Nevada, Tad Johnston, Nevada, Donald Million (Amanda), Bronaugh, Justin Million (Valarie), Sheldon, and Chris Million (Lynn) Moundville; 23 great-grandchildren; six “great-greats” as she called them; and an ex-daughter-in-law, Bernie Weber.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 19, at Ferry Funeral Home, with Pastor Dennis Engelbrecht officiating. Interment will follow in Worsley Cemetery, Bronaugh. The family will receive friends from 7-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 18, at the funeral home.

The family requests in lieu of flowers any contributions for Betty’s final expenses would be greatly appreciated.
