Ronald G. Elliott, 81, Walker, passed away on Wednesday, May 9, at his home in Walker following a brief illness. Ron was born Feb. 9, 1937, south of El Dorado Springs, in Cedar County, to William LeRoy and Virgie May (Teague) Elliott. On Christmas day in 1975, he married Barbara Ann Hallam in Walker and she survives of the home

In 1944, Ron moved along with his family to the homestead where he lived his entire life. He attended Walker High School and graduated Class of 1955. When he was nine years he was saved at the old Sulphur Springs Baptist Church. At the age of 12, due to his Dad’s declining health, Ron took over the running of the farm while also going to school. He continued to operate the family farm until his passing.

In addition to his wife Barbara he is survived by his brother-in-law, John Hallam and his wife Patty; two nephews, David Hallam and his wife Cori, and Kevin Hallam and his wife Jennifer; special cousins, G.W. Steincross and his wife Mary and their daughters, Regan and Kameron; numerous cousins, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Virginia May Keogh.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 12, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with James Ensor officiating. Interment will follow in Lefler Cemetery in Harwood. The family will receive friends from noon-1 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

Memorials are suggested in his memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
