NPD welcomes officer Dinnsen

Officer Jordan Dinnsen, 21, from Oswego, Kan., began his law enforcement career with Nevada Police Department on June 4.

“It’s the only thing ever wanted to do since I was a little kid,” Dinnsen said.

He is a graduate of the law enforcement academy at Missouri Southern University.

“It was interesting,” he said, though he explained he thought the program would have been more expansive.

Since he started, he has been working alongside a Field Training Officer, Corporal Rae Hayes. He has two more months with an FTO before being allowed to work on his own.

“He’s doing great,” Hayes said.

Dinnsen said memorizing the streets around town has been the most challenging aspect of the job so far and that he hasn’t been with the department long enough yet to say what about the job is most rewarding.

“I’m definitely making a career here,” he said.

Being from a small town, Dinnsen said Nevada was attractive due to its size.
