Dustin Lee Leer passed from this life on Aug. 2, 2018, at his home in Springfield, Mo., following a sudden illness. He was born on July 22, 1978, to Lana Grant McCloud and Dusty Leer in Nevada.

He is survived by his parents, Lana McCloud and stepfather, Ronnie, Dusty Leer and stepmother, Kimberly; siblings, Crystal Barnett, Adam Grant, Kayla and her husband, Sam Compton, Ryan, and Paige Leer; nephew, Yancarlo; niece, Haylie; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, and his dog Abigail. He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Kenneth Grant; his grandparents, Kuini (Kay) Kiger and Freeman David Kiger, Darlene and Charles (Junior) Grant, Anne and David Leer; cousins, Shahanna Barnett and Marcus Rhodes; and aunts Louise and Laura Kiger.

Dustin had just turned 40 and had so much of his life left to live. He is very loved by his family and friends for the special person that he was. Dustin was a very creative soul who had ambitions to help others when they were in need. He had dreams to open a homeless shelter one day because he truly wanted to help people in dire circumstances. He was an amazingly beautiful singer who sang every chance he had with his inspiring voice.

He excelled in school and was a member of Soundsational Singers, which was his passion. He graduated in 1997 from Nevada High School and moved to Joplin, Mo., to attend Missouri Southern State University. In his teenage years he was a waiter at El Sambre in Nevada. He later moved to Springfield, Mo., and established it as his home. He was a hard worker and loved the outdoors and animals.

In lieu of flowers the family suggest contributions to the Nevada High School Soundsational Singers, in memory of Dustin. A celebration of life is to be announced at a later date.

His care is entrusted to Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, Ltd. DeGraffenreid-Wood-Crematory.
