Earl L. “Buster” Rogers, 95, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Monday, Oct. 1, 2018, following a brief illness. Earl was born Dec. 3, 1922, in Mulvane, Kan., to E.N. and Leona (Harmon) Rogers. He was united in marriage to Marjorie L. Josepeit on Jan. 24, 1945, in Goodland, Kan., and she preceded him in death on Sept. 23, 2013.

Earl was raised in Kansas and Colorado graduating from Eastonville High School in El Paso County, Colo. He served in the United States Navy on the USS Taylor, stationed in San Diego during World War II. In 1951, Earl and his family came to Richards, Mo., where he farmed and raised cattle all of his life.

Earl was a longtime member of Richards Christian Church and more recently attended Rinehart Christian Church. His memberships included: Richards and Nevada Masonic Lodges, founding member of McGinnis Youth Center, member of Richards School Board for a number of years, he was involved in 4-H Club and project leader for various 4-H projects, Nevada R-5 School Board member and past president from 1973-78, received the 40 year award for Outstanding Service to the USDA Farm Service Agency and the Producers of Vernon County, member of Richards and Nevada O.E.S., Board Member of Federal Land Bank, member and past president — Vernon County Youth Fair Board, member of Stotesbury Grange, NW Vernon County Water Board Member, and a member of Vernon County Wranglers Saddle Club. He also enjoyed riding horses and motorcycles with Shirley.

Survivors include three daughters, Linda Verman and her husband, Eldon, Independence, Mo., Jacqueline Linn and her husband, Jimmie, Bronaugh, Mo., and Shirley Peckman and her husband, Ron, Richards, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Brian Verman and his wife, Allison, Independence, Mo., Staci Ringwald and her husband, Steve, Batesville, Ark., Scott Linn and his wife, Nancy, Rogersville, Mo., Ryan Linn and his wife, Monica, Bronaugh, Mo., Ty Peckman and his wife, Jaelyn, Centralia, Mo., Courtney Hanson and her husband, Ryne, Richards, Mo., and Meagan Nehr and her husband, Adam, Sheldon, Mo.; 11 great-grandchildren, John Verman, Matthew Murphy, Taylor Stratford, J.R. Stratford, Jenna Linn, Jolie Linn, Madison Hanson, James Nehr, Sophia Nehr, Aubrey Nehr, and Lynlee Nehr; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 8, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Kevin Moyers officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Newton Burial Park. A Masonic service will be held at 5 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 8, at Ferry Funeral Home with visitation following from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Memorials may be made in his memory to Vernon County Youth Fair or McGinnis Youth Center in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
