Share the Warmth coat drive underway

Friday, November 16, 2018

The Nevada/Vernon County Chamber of Commerce Share the Warmth Coat Drive is currently underway. Coat collection began on October 1 and will continue through Dec. 21. Brand new or clean, gently used coats may be dropped off at the Chamber of Commerce at 225 W. Austin, KNEM/KNMO Radio at 414 E. Austin or Osage Prairie YMCA at 500 W. Highland in Nevada. While all sizes are needed and accepted, they are especially in need of toddler and extended adult sized coats.

“We have been doing the coat drive for many years,” Chamber Executive Director Sheree Gayman said. “We do this in conjunction with the Community Outreach efforts. So if you are signed up with the Community Outreach to receive food on Dec. 21 you can also get coats.” Sign-ups are being accepted at Community Outreach on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Gayman said that last year they had enough coats to let each person choose two instead of one. “Hopefully that will be the case this year. If we have any coats left over we donate them to an area ministry.”
