David Lee “Flash” Hymer

David Lee “Flash” Hymer, 65, formerly of Metz, passed away on Monday, Dec. 24, 2018, at Cox Barton County Hospital in Lamar, Mo. David was born Feb. 19, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., to Robert Walter and Delphia Irene (Hesser) Hymer.

David grew up in Metz and graduated from Metz High School Class of 1971. Following high school he began driving a truck, long haul trucking and hauling grain, which he continued to do throughout his life until his retirement. David lived in the Liberal and Nevada area most of his life. He enjoyed collecting scale model trucks and cars. David was a member of Rinehart Christian Church.

Survivors include his children, Robert A. Hymer and his wife, Kandi, Taniia K. Hymer, Janie Nichols, Caleigh Nichols, Jake Wilson, Trenton Barker, and Ryan Barker; 11 grandchildren; one brother, Mike Hymer and his wife, Jo, Metz; one sister, Debbi Beerman and her husband, Dave, Nevada; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend, Bill Phillips, Metz. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Christopher; and one brother Phil Hymer.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 29, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with Pastor Ricky Walles officiating. Interment will follow in Virgil City Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m., Friday, at the funeral home.
