Mary Lou Johnson, 73, El Dorado Springs, Mo., formerly of Nevada, Mo., entered Heaven’s Gates on Jan. 5, 2019, after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma Cancer just a short time before. She was born on April 9, 1945, in Little Blue, Mo., to Cecil and Mary Martha (Brokob) Smith. She was united in marriage on July 29, 1966, to Glen Alden Johnson.

Over the years she worked as a waitress in Joplin, Mo., Shirt Factory in El Dorado Springs, Mo., Clover Leaf in Appleton City, Mo., and Ramsey’s Motel in Nevada, Mo.

She was known for her kind heart, a woman many looked up to and admired for her strength and courage. She loved to dance, enjoyed NASCAR Racing, loved her cats, and spending time with family.

She is survived by a daughter, Glenda Tally; a son, Glen Johnson and his wife, Kristina; grandchildren, Ashley Tally and Emily Johnson; two great-grandchildren, Adisynne and Khorbyn Tally; sister, Eileen Smith Gunder and husband, Rick; sister, Joanne Smith Hendricks; sister, Carleen Purtle and husband, Darrell; brother, Cecil “Bud” Smith and wife, Opal; numerous nieces and nephews; stepdaughter; several stepgrandchildren; stepgreat-grandchildren; and stepgreat-great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Cecil and Mary Martha (Brokob) Smith; husband, Glen Johnson; two infant children, Paula Carleen Smith and Joseph Allen Johnson; stepson, Richard (Rick) Johnson; sisters, Connie (Smith) Ryon and Florence Mae Smith; and brother, Arnold Smith.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 12, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo., with Chaplain Joseph Hall officiating. Private interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends/family from 10 to 11 a.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
