Nevada Middle School teams sweep East Newton on hardwood
The Nevada Tiger Middle School eighth-grade basketball team emerged from Tuesday's home contest against East Newton with a 21-12 victory. Cade Beshore and Case Sanderson paced the Tigers with nine points apiece.
In the B-contest, Nevada edged the visitors, 27-25. The Tigers were led by Steven Zachary's game-high eight points, while Brayden Koenig chipped in seven in the winning effort.
Facing East Newton on the road, Nevada's seventh-grade A-squad rolled to a 47-23 victory.
Nevada's eighth-grade hoopsters returned to the court Thursday for a road matchup with Webb City, falling to the hosts, 40-24. The loss moves the Tigers to 3-2 overall. Nevada's B-team, meanwhile, was tangled by Webb, 36-24, and also slipped to 3-2 overall.
Also squaring off with Webb on the road Thursday, the Nevada seventh-grade team was upended 45-20, while the B-team Tigers were doubled-up, 26-13. The loss moves Nevada's 7A team to 2-3 overall.
