Helen Louise Littell

A celebration of life and family graveside service was held March 9, 2019, for Helen Louise Littell, 70, formerly of Nevada, who passed away Sept. 13, 2018, in Little River, Kan., after a lengthy illness.

She was born in Chicago, Ill., on Nov. 17, 1947, to Richard Clay Wuerful and Sarah Jones. Helen graduated from Proviso East High School and came to Nevada in 1968 to attend Cottey College and met her future husband Bart Littell on a blind date. They were married in 1970 and made their home together in Nevada until Bart’s death in 1990.

Helen is survived by two daughters, Heather (Littell) Stewart of Hutchinson, Kan., and Penny Littell of Richmond, Va.; two stepdaughters, Cindy (Littell) Burns of Nevada and Lana (Littell) McCarthy of Hutchinson, Kan.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Carol Reyes of McAllen, Texas, and Paula Lundgren of Woodstock, Ill.; one brother, Billy Wuerful of Clearwater, Fla.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; a grandson, Barton McCarthy; and her brother, Richard Wuerful.

While in Nevada Helen managed the former Citizen’s State Bank Travel Agency for many years, was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, and several women’s clubs where she enjoyed many friendships. Helen loved to travel, cook, entertain, read, and visit with her family.
