Tigers wrap successful season with awards banquet

It was a special night for the Nevada Tiger high school basketball team at the their recent postseason awards banquet.

NHS varsity head coach Shaun Gray spoke glowingly of his squad, as the Tigers concluded the 2018-19 season with an 18-8 overall record.

The banquet also included recognition of the junior varsity and freshman teams, and was capped with Gray’s announcement of team award winners.

Team winners, were: Matt Thompson, Most Valuable Player; Logan Applegate, Offensive MVP; Lane McNeley, Patrick Quest Award; Peyton Denney, Outstanding Leadership Award; Kaden Denney, Co-Brandon Barker-Most Improved Player Award; Noah Cheaney, Co-Brandon Barker Award; Logan McNeley, Co-Defensive MVP Award; Dalton Gayman, Co-Defensive MVP.

In addition, Gray announced that Thompson, a senior wing forward, had been selected to the 4-States Basketball Coaches Association All-Area First-Team — while Applegate, a sophomore point guard, was tabbed to the second-team.
