According to a press release, six people were recognized during the Sheriff’s Office seventh annual awards banquet. Vernon County Sheriff Jason Mosher said he started holding this event after taking office in 2013 as a way to recognize the staff and the hard work they do. “It’s our way of saying 'thank you' for what they do throughout the year, seven days a week, 24-hours a day.” This year’s awards included:

Deputy Ryan Wood and Suzanne Reese, who received commendations for perfect attendance and their record of helping with public service events. Sgt. Dan Miller, Lt. Eric Terry and Gary Bloom, received the Lifetime Service Award. Mosher said this year’s employee of the year went to Deputy Zesar Huerta. Deputy Huerta became the rural county DARE Officer in 2018 and serves the county schools along with his patrol duties. Deputy Huerta received numerus compliments from the public during 2019 along with several letters sent to Sheriff Mosher commending his willingness to help others.

Mosher said he was extremely proud of the VCSO staff and the job they are doing for the citizens of the county.
