Despite dealing with the absence of star forward Dalton Gayman for the vast majority of the second half the Nevada Tigers held on for a 44-41 victory over Logan-Rogersville in Tuesday night's Big 8 Conference crossover game at Wynn Gym.

A clash of the 2-seeds from the Big 8 East and West divisions, Nevada held a commanding 27-14 halftime advantage. The Tigers were carried in the first half by the dynamite offensive play of junior Logan Applegate and Gayman, who combined for 25 of Nevada's 27 points.

Coming out of the halftime break Gayman was relegated to the bench for the entirely of the third quarter, as Nevada's double-digit lead slowly evaporated.

Gayman re-entered the contest to open the fourth and promptly drained a 3-pointer, increasing Nevada's lead to 38-31.

A short time later Gayman was fouled under the basket, but also assessed a technical on the play. After connecting on 1-of-2 free throws, Gayman returned to the bench for the remainder of the game.

With Nevada struggling from the charity stripe down the stretch Logan-Rogersville whittled the deficit to three, and were an off-target 3-point attempt at the buzzer from sending the contest to overtime.

For Nevada Applegate concluded with a game-high 21 points, as the Tigers improve to 18-3.
