Friday, March 27, 2020

The following is according to a letter sent to parents by the Nevada R-5 School District Administrative Offices:

“The ongoing impact of COVID-19 in our region requires school districts to be flexible and make decisions that are in the best interest of public health. In consultation with the Vernon County Health Department, Vernon County School Superintendents have made a joint decision to extend the “Wellness Break” and the closure of all our respective districts will be extended through April 24, 2020.

Nevada R-5 School District undertands this is an uncertain time for our students, families, and communities, but we remain focused on protecting the safety and well-being of students, staff, and families.

The extended closure impacts all extra and co-curricular activities, events, practices, and before- and after-school programs. All building remain closed to the public and nonessential personnel. Nevada R-5 School District will continue to provide meal options for children under the age of 18. We are also committed to providing learning resources and options that parents and students can consider during this unplanned break from regular learning.

Parents of students exhibiting flu-like symptoms or staff exhibiting flu-like symptoms, or any individuals who have travelled outside of the country, should contact the DHSS Hotline at 877-435-8411.”
