Tommie Sue Beisner of Nevada, Mo., passed away May 9, 2020, at the age of 77.

Sue was born in Joplin, Mo., on Oct. 17, 1942, to Wynona (Love) Newton and Alfred Buford Newton. After graduating from Joplin High School, Sue received an Associate degree from Joplin Junior College. She spent many years managing the Aardvark Video store, working in the family pharmacy business, volunteering in the community, and devoting her life to her family. She enjoyed attending countless dance recitals, musical performances, sporting events and other activities in which her children and grandchildren participated. She enjoyed watching basketball and baseball games, especially her father’s beloved St. Louis Cardinals. Taking vacation cruises with her family and friends always brought great enjoyment to Sue. She was a proud Girl Scout troupe leader and loved playing the role of hostess to her children’s friends. Those that knew her can attest that friends of her family became part of her family. Many earned the privilege of calling her “Me-ma." Her smile was infectious, and her laughter will be missed by many. She will be remembered for the extraordinary love she had for her family and the love they have for her.

Survivors include a son, James Michael Beisner and his wife, Christi, of Nevada; a daughter, Pam Huffman of Kansas City; son-in-law Rick Baker of Nevada; grandchildren, Ethan Beisner, Jared Huffman, Lauren Quick and her husband, Tyler, Tessa Huffman, Sydnie Baker and her fiancé, Brent Bloom, and Alec Baker; one great-granddaughter, Ilya Cate Quick.; an aunt, uncle and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Raamah McClary ;and daughter, Cathy Baker.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 16, at the First Baptist Church in Nevada with Pastor Joe Trussell officiating. Interment will follow in Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Friends may call from now and until 7 p.m., Friday, at Ferry Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers the family asks contributions to be made to the Vernon County Cancer Relief or the Church of God Holiness, El Dorado Springs. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, Mo.
