Nevada High School incoming freshman Kynndrick "Hulk" Brooks dazzled on the wrestling mat over the weekend at the Reno World Championships in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Brooks, 14, concluded the three-day showcase event with a 3-2 overall record, competing at 95 pounds in the 15-and-under (15-man bracket) division.

The trio of victories against top competition netted Brooks a seventh-place finish, en route to All-American status.

After having his youth state tournament canceled in March due to the global pandemic, Brooks made up for lost time via one week of wrestling camp at Purler Wrestling Academy in Moscow Mills (Mo.). Brooks also competed at the Nevada High open mat (session) in July.

Brooks capped his middle school grappling career this past winter with a flourish — finishing his eighth-grade season at 29-5 overall, while winning individual district and regional championships.
