Lady Panther spikers host tri-match
Sheldon High's Lady Panther volleyball team was in action Tuesday, welcoming in Pleasant Hope and Greenfield for a triangular.
The Lady Panthers dropped their opener against Pleasant Hope in two sets — 6-25, 12-25. They then absorbed another two-set sweep, falling to Greenfield — 10-25, 9-25. The non-conference losses move Sheldon to 0-7 overall.
For Sheldon Destiny Brokob led the way with six assists, three digs, and a pair of aces. Tori McClure also chipped in a trio of aces — while Deborah Lamb added two kills, two aces, and a block. Additionally, Ella Kleeman and Britain Korsi contributed a kill apiece for Sheldon.
"This triangular is always a tough one for us," said Lady Panther head coach, Emily Godsey. "Pleasant Hope and Greenfield are both very technical teams and can read the opponent's floor very well. They caught us a few times not ready to pass up a dump, or a kill, and that hurt us."
Added Godsey: "We have also started using a new rotation with new players, so we are trying to get comfortable with all of the changes too. Even though the scores look rough, the girls played pretty well. Overall, I'm very proud of how they held their own against these teams."
