57th Annual 4-H Chicken BBQ just around the corner

Friday, September 18, 2020

The 57th Annual Vernon County 4-H Chicken Barbeque is on tap from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 3, and is the lone major fundraising event for county’s 4-H program.

Tickets are available for purchase through county 4-H members, as well as the University Extension office, located at the Vernon County Courthouse. Due to obstacles presented by the global health pandemic, all meals will be carry-out.

Additionally, 4-H council members are partaking in a pie fundraiser. Those interested

in donating pies for the fundraiser, are asked to contact the extension office at 417-448-2560.

Those who purchase a ticket for the chicken dinner will receive a half-chicken, baked potato, coleslaw, baked beans, bread and a bottle of water. Delivery is available inside city limits, with a minimum purchase of six tickets.

“A very limited number of tickets will be sold at the door this year, so please purchase tickets from 4-H members by Sept. 20,” an Extension press release read. “Club members must turn in all ticket sales to their club leader, or to the Extension Office by Sept. 21. Vernon County 4-H appreciates everyone for their support of this time-honored event.”
