The Nevada Middle School seventh and eighth-grade football teams were both defeated by the visiting Seneca Indians Thursday night at Logan Field.

Nevada's seventh-grade team was beat, 36-8, falling to 0-3 on the season. Nevada's eighth-grade gridders, meanwhile, were bested 32-16, and move to 2-1 on the season.

In the eighth-grade contest Nevada led early, courtesy of a Jack Cheaney rushing touchdown. They then went on top 8-0 as Gabe Smith tacked on the two-point play via a quarterback keeper.

Seneca replied with a scoring drive to knot the contest at 8-apiece. The Indians then scored on the final play of the first half, as Nevada surrendered a 62-yard rushing touchdown. The successful two-point play handed Seneca a 16-8 halftime advantage.

It was rough-sledding for the Tigers in the second half, as Seneca chewed up the entirety of the third quarter clock, en route to the end zone and a 24-8 advantage.

Early in the fourth, Seneca intercepted Smith and returned it for a touchdown. After converting their fourth consecutive two-point attempt, the Indians led, 32-8.

Nevada replied on its ensuing possession, with Jordan Boyd's rushing TD punctuating the scoring drive. Smith then connected with Bryan Mendez in the end zone on the two-point play, accounting for the final 16-point margin.
