The Nevada Police Department is investigating a weekend incident that occurred Saturday night at the intersection of Austin Boulevard and Centennial BLVD.

NPD Lieutenant Steve Bastow confirmed with the Daily Mail that a 45-yard-old male was injured, but what led up to the incident remains shrouded in mystery.

The male was an occupant of a passenger vehicle, and was found outside of the vehicle when first responders arrived on the scene.

Bastow also confirmed that the vehicle the individual was in was the only one involved in the incident.

Bastow said the police report noted that the individual was conscious at the scene, but was life-flighted to a Joplin hospital with unspecified injuries.

While the circumstances remain unclear relating to how the individual wound up outside of the vehicle and injured, Bastow said that it does not appear there was any criminal activity that resulted in him exiting the car. Bastow said it also doesn't appear that a car accident took place.

The department said it still plans on conducting interviews related to the incident, including one with the injured party.

One line of inquiry involves the department determining if something happened inside the vehicle they're not aware of prior to the individual exiting.

As of press time the nature of his condition was unknown.

First responders to the scene included the NPD, Nevada Fire Department, and Emergency Medical Services.
