Virginia Lillian Godwin, 58, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Saturday, Oct. 31, 2020, at Cass Regional Hospital in Harrisonville, Mo. Virginia was born on Jan. 30, 1962, in Fort Scott, Kan., to Stanley Lewis and Helen Joan (Pettibon) Schnichels.

Virginia’s parents passed away when she was around 4 years old and she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Norval and Ann Schnichels, in the Fort Scott area. She graduated from Fort Scott High School and for a period of time worked as a caregiver.

Virginia loved her cat, who was her special companion, which brought so much love and enjoyment into her life. She loved Supreme Pizza, and enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading her Bible, and attending church when she was able.

Survivors include her daughters, Michelle Lee Godwin and her companion, Archie Alexander, Fort Scott; and Angela Renee’ Godwin, Baker, La., and her two children, James Ronald Godwin and Debra-Anne Godwin; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; the aunt and uncle who raised her; two sisters, Donna Marie Schnichels and Debra Ann Schnichels; and two brothers, Danny Joe Schnichels and Ronald Eugene Schnichels.

Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Nov. 13, 2020, at Ferry Funeral Home, Nevada, MO, with Clifford Pettibon officiating.
