Frieda Jean Leer, 90, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2020, at Cox Medical Center in Springfield, Mo. Frieda was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Altoona, Iowa, to Erwin and Kathrine (Tompkins) Homrighous.

Frieda was born in Iowa and came to Nevada with her family at a young age where she graduated from Nevada High School. She worked at Nellie Don in Nevada for a number of years, then went on to work at Nevada State Hospital for 22 ½ years retiring in 1992. Her biggest joy in life was her family and grandchildren, and her annual trips to Reno, Nev.

Survivors include six children, Larry Leer (Linda), Lamar, Rick Morris, Kansas, Alfred Leer, Nevada, Diane Dighero (Terry), Nevada, Linda Reeves (Zane), and Pam Kelley (Scott), Lamar; numerous grandchildren, and great-grandchildren; three sisters, Betty Palmer, Fort Collins, Colo., Dorothy Campbell, Pittsburg, Kan., and Peggy Owen, Central Point, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Ronald Leer, and Patrick Leer; one grandson, Matthew Leer; one great-granddaughter, Sydney Mendez; a daughter-in-law, Jeanette Leer; two brothers, Harry Homrighous and Billy Homrighous; and one sister, Kathleen Pierce.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Monday, Dec. 7, at Newton Burial Park in Nevada. Memorials are suggested in her memory to Vernon County Cancer Relief in care of Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

At this time there is no longer a statewide limitation on the number of people attending funerals or visitations, however those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing, and that people are welcome to and, indeed, are encouraged to wear face mask to protect themselves and others.
