Sharon A. (Hardwick) Kamla, 81, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Dec. 17, 2020, at St. Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City, Mo., from complications of a heart condition.

Sharon was born Aug. 23, 1939, in Benkelman, Neb., to Omar W. and Marjorie M. (Baney) Hardwick. She spent her childhood in Benkelman, graduating from high school in 1957.

Sharon worked at various bookkeeping jobs, finally settling on secretary/bookkeeping in Bird City, KS at Northwest Kansas Electric Coop. She worked at that job until her retirement.

She was married to Clarence P. Kamla in May 1991 in Bird City, Kan. They lived in Bird City the first few years, until Sharon’s retirement. In the spring of 1998, they decided to sell their property in Bird City and move to Nevada to be closer to her mother, brother, and one of her sisters.

She was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Nevada and the Bushwhacker Quilt Guild. Sharon was very fond of young children – especially babies. As her health started to fail the past few years, she spent many hours on her computer keeping in contact with her many friends and family.

Sharon is survived by her son, Rick (Maria) Hardwick, Garden City, Kan.; stepson, Kent (Karen) Kamla, Thornton, Colo.; sisters, Kerin (Ron) Hatch, Nevada, Terri (Dennis) Novacek, Lawrence, Kan.; her brother, Kenny Biber, Nevada, Mo.; grandson, Drew, Lakin, Kan.; Richard (Tatum), Los Angeles, Calif.; and Emily, Thornton, Colo.; four great-grandchildren; special friends, Janna and Lance Raven, Nevada, Mo.; along with a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and her many friends.

Due to COVID-19 concerns a private family memorial service will be held.

Memorials to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church can be sent to Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada, Mo.
