Building demolition to begin this weekend

Nevada City Manager Mark Mitchell noted that a crane arrived on the Nevada Square Friday afternoon that will be used in the demolition of the collapsed building located at 100 N. Cedar St.

"We'll assemble the crane tomorrow and security walls," added Mitchell. The demolition will begin on first thing Sunday morning.

Mitchell also noted that there will be road closures in place during the demolition. "Road closures will begin Sunday at 5 a.m.," he stated. The closures include the south side of the Nevada Square from Main to Cedar Street (on Cherry Street); Cedar to Cherry Street; and Washington and Cherry Street.

Unless further notice is given, the roads should be open on Monday, Jan. 18.
