Marilyn Maxine Griffin

Marilyn Maxine Griffin, 81, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Thursday, Jan. 21, 2021, in Neosho, Mo., following a brief illness. Marilyn was born Aug. 25, 1939, in Nevada, to George H. and Daisy (Williams) Shutters. She married Raymond Winder and to this union three children were born.

Marilyn was raised in Nevada and graduated from Bronaugh High School in 1957. She worked at Key Work Clothes in Nevada for many years and then at the Nevada State Hospital until her retirement. Following her retirement, she operated Jefferson Lines / Western Union Station for an additional 15 years and then retired a second time. Throughout her life, Marilyn enjoyed caring for her yard, working jigsaw puzzles, reading, and studying her Bible. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Nevada.

Marilyn is survived by three children, Debbie McDonald (Ronald Yarsulik), Neosho, Carl Winder (Kellie) Stockton, Mo., and George Winder (Angie) Stockton, Mo.; seven grandchildren, Amanda Butler-Beuchaw (Jason), Heather McDonald, Elizabeth Highley (Matt), Dustin Winder (Melissa), Dexter Winder (Bobbie), Kevin Dyas (Deanna), and Elena Dyas; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Maggie Podolak, Nevada, Mo., and Donna Keating, Holland, Mich. She was preceded in death by her parents; one granddaughter, Samantha Winder; one brother, Carl Shutters; one sister, Beverly Shutters; and an infant sister, Patty Shutters.

Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at First Christian Church in Nevada with Pastor Bill Platt. Friends may call now and until the hour of service at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada.

Lunch will be served at 1:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church prior to the service.

Those in attendance will be asked to maintain social distancing and are asked to wear face masks to protect themselves and others.
