Lady Wildcats join forces with Liberal

Saturday, April 3, 2021

Due to low participation numbers for their own squad, members of the Bronaugh High School softball team will play at nearby Liberal for the 2021 season.

Bailey Cliffman, Josie Banes, Emma Morris, Gretchen Banes and Julia Brundrige from Bronaugh will share the dugout with Liberal’s Gracie Bott, Kaylee Wallace, Keirstyn Larson, Kyla Porter, Ellaina LaNear, Laney Simpson, Abby Barton, Rylie Stanfield of Liberal.

Porter and Larson will handle pitching duties.

The Lady Bulldogs opened the season with losses to Golden City, St. Mary’s-Colgan, and Osceola before getting their first win Thursday at Lakeland by a score of 21-1.

Bronaugh played under a co-op with Liberal last season, as well, but the decision to do so again this year was not made until an emergency Board of Education meeting in late February, when the board approved the measure after hearing from the administration, Liberal head coach BJ Goodell, and a parent group represented by Brent Banes.
