Shannon Christopher Meek, 48, Deerfield, Mo., loving husband and father, passed away unexpectedly on June 5, 2021, at Nevada Regional Medical Center. Shannon was born Dec. 27, 1972, in Nevada, Mo., to Christopher Eugene and Cathy Jo (Schulz) Meek. He graduated Nevada High School in 1991 and attended Fort Scott Community College where he received his degree as a Registered Nurse. He had worked as a flight nurse for Med Flight and Life Net as well as St. John’s Hospital Joplin ICU, Fort Scott Mercy Hospital ER, and was currently working at Via Christi Hospital, Fort Scott, Kan., in the ER.

Shannon was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Nevada, a member of Knights of Columbus Council No. 855 and was a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Luke Hart Assembly 1953, also served as a member of the Auxiliary Board of the VFW as a Guard and Trustee. Shannon never met a stranger, was a loving person, an excellent RN, the life of the party, and loved to give hugs. He was Pop Pop to his grandkids, who were the love of his life. Shannon was an avid hunter and enjoyed sharing this hobby with his children, grandchildren, and close friends.

On July 30, 1994, he married Erin Beth McCully in Nevada, and she survives of the home. Additional survivors include a son, Taylor Meek, Deerfield, Mo.; a daughter, Tayvia (A.J.) Greer, Nevada, Mo.; his mother, Cathy (Bill) (Schulz) Davis, Richards, Mo.; two grandchildren, Weston and Averie Greer; one brother, Shawn (Alisha) Davis, Richard, Mo.; three sisters, Sharena (Travis) Heathman, Nevada, Mo., Coby (Ryan) Fullerton and Judy (William) May; his father and mother-in-law, Les and Sarah McCully, Deerfield, Mo.; grandfather, William Schulz, Nevada, Mo.; grandmother Betty Graham, Fort Scott, Kan.; two sisters-in-law, Meggan (Matt) Witte, Moundville, Mo., and Kathleen (Nathan) Morton, Aurora, Ill.; as well as several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his father, Christopher Meek; grandfather, Charles Meek; grandmother, Mary Schulz; grandfather, Bill Graham; and grandparents, William Davis Sr. and Lucy (Snow) Davis.

Rosary will be at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, June 9, at Ferry Funeral Home with visitation to follow, from 6 to 7 p.m.

Funeral Mass will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 10, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, in Nevada, with burial to follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery. A reception will be held at 5 p.m., at the VFW Auxiliary Hall.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary’s Early Childhood Education Center with the funeral home serving as custodian.
