2021 Vernon County Youth Fair royalty candidates

The 2021 Vernon County Youth Fair kicked off Monday and will continue throughout the week. Tuesday evening, the VCYF royalty coronation will be held at 7 p.m., in the fairgrounds Pavilion. Candidates include the following:

Queen Candidates

Josie Banes

Josie is 17-years-old and a member of Bronaugh 4-H. She is the daughter of Brent and Ashley Banes. Her current fair projects include Swine and Beef. Her future plans include attending Labette Community College in Parsons, Kan., to become a Radiology Technologist. Josie’s favorite VCYF memory is winning Princess in 2018. She had a great time getting to meet new people in the community and helping out with the event.

Hadley Bruce

Hadley is 17-years-old and a member of Walker 4-H. She is the daughter of Deidre Stevens and Tim Bruce. Her current fair projects include Swine, Rabbits, Interior Design and arts and crafts. Her future plans include attending the University of Kansas and majoring in behavioral psychology. Hadley’s favorite VCYF memory is being crowned VCYF Princess in 2018.

Hallie Bond

Hallie is 18-years-old and a member of Country Clovers 4-H. She is the daughter of Jeff and Myra Bond. Her current fair projects include Rabbits, Scrapbooking and Gardening. Her future plans include attending Missouri State University. Hallie’s favorite VCYF memory is spending the week doing what she loves with family and friends, eating at the diner, especially the strawberry pie.

Victoria Peery

Victoria is 18-years-old and a member of West Point 4-H. She is the daughter of Stephanie Peery, Brandon Stone and John Peery. Her currents fair projects include Horses and Turkeys. Her future plans include attending Pittsburg and getting a degree in psychology and a Masters Degree in Social Work. Victoria’s favorite VCYF memory is the same every year, she is able to see someone helping or teaching someone else, it makes her love 4-H seeing that others are willing to teach.

Princess Candidates

Addison McInroy

Addison is 13-years-old and a member of West Point 4-H, Representing Timberline 4-H. Her parents are Nathan and Brandi McInroy. Her current fair projects are Meat Goats and Photography. Her future plans include attending the University of Alabama to play softball and would like to attend dental school. Addison’s favorite VCYF memory is when she showed goats her first year and she got first place in her class. It was a great experience and very fun, especially in the showring.

Stella Fast

Stella is 14-years-old and a member of West Point 4-H, Representing Clayton 4-H. Her parents are Jeremy and Lori Fast. Her current fair projects include Poultry, Rabbits and Photography. Her future plans include attending college/medical school to become a surgeon. Stella’s favorite VCYF memory is working on her Leadership project, Brilliant Benches. She helps raise money to purchase and install the benches at the fairgrounds and having people compliment them and using them during the fair.

Alaina Hardin

Alaina is 13-years-old and a member of West Point 4-H. She is the daughter of Joe and Kelly Hardin. Her current fair projects include Goats and Poultry. Her future plans include becoming a teacher for grades K-2. She would also like to raise goats and have a family of her own. Alaina’s favorite VCYF memory is wining first place with her goat the first time she was in the showring and also to be able to help raise money for the Brilliant Benches Project.

Lauren Sloniker

Lauren is 13-years-old and a member of Milo-Oakdale 4-H. She is the daughter of Jay and Jessica Sloniker. Her current fair projects include Beef and Horses. Her future plans including college to become a Veterinarian. Lauren’s favorite VCYF memory includes participating in the pet show when she was 7 and showing her two turtles and sharing information about them.

Charli Wydick

Charli is 12-years-old and a member of Milo-Oakdale 4-H, Representing Rinehart 4-H. She is the daughter of Daniel and Andrea Wydick. Her current fair projects include Swine, Rabbits, Archery, Arts and Crafts, Cake Decorating, Outdoor Adventures, Foods and Leadership. Her future plans have not been decided as of yet although she would like to be a baker, a children’s author and a pediatrician. She knows she really wants to work with kids and is looking forward to seventh grade and being a NMS Cheerleader.

Nicole Kelso

Nicole is 14-years-old and a member of Walker 4-H. She is the daughter of Tracey and Brandon Kelso. Her current fair projects include Rabbits and Turkeys. Her future plans attending college to become a Dermatologist. Nicole’s favorite VCYF memory was when she was younger and the older kids helped her with her rabbits and turkeys. She truly enjoys helping new members with their rabbits and turkeys especially with showmanship.

Hailey Olive

Hailey is 10-years-old and a member of Schell City 4-H. She is the daughter of Chandler and Mary Ann Olive, Kirsten and Brandon Poole. Her current fair projects include Swine, Dairy Steers, Arts and Crafts, Foods and Food Preservation. Her future plans include becoming a massage therapist. Hailey’s favorite VCYF memory is spending the week with her family in the camper at the fair last year.

Brinley Erwin

Brinley is 11-years-old and a member of Backroads 4-H. She is the daughter of Shawna Eby and Quent Erwin. Her current fair projects include Meat Rabbits and Arts and Crafts. Her future plans include attending college and becoming an Interior Designer. Brinley’s favorite VCYF memory is working in the diner and participating on a Stockman team with her friends.

Carissa Stong

Carissa is 12-years-old and a member of Lone Star 4-H, Representing Sheldon FFA. She is the daughter of Dusty and Melissa Stong. Her current fair projects include Sheep, Rabbits, Small bore Rifle, Archery, Arts and Crafts and Photography. Her future plans include going to college and getting a degree in agriculture. Carissa’s favorite VCYF memory is winning showmanship in her age for sheep. Winning earned her a spot in the Round Robin competition and she ended up winning third in the Round Robin for her age group.

2020 VCYF Royalty

Queen Shiloh Mitchem

Shiloh is 16-years-old and a member of Walker 4-H. She is the current 2020 Vernon County Youth Fair Queen and daughter of Christi Mitchem and Buck and Lisa Mitchem. Her current fair entries include Poultry, Arts and Crafts and Interior Design. Her future plans include attending Truman University to become a traveling nurse. Shiloh’s favorite VCYF memory is being crowned the VCYF 2020 Queen and enjoying the fun competition with her friends.

Princess Preslee Bower

Preslee is 14-years-old and a member of Clayton 4-H. She is the current 2020 Vernon County Youth Fair Princess and daughter of Jason and Thabena Bower. Her current fair entries include Goats, Sheep, Cake Decorating, Welding, Leadership and Interior Designs. Her future plans include attending college to become an Orthodontist. Preslee’s favorite VCYF memory is being crowned VCYF 2020 Princess and spending time with her livestock and friends.
