Nevada native charged with involvement in Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol insurrection
Federal agents have arrested a Nevada man who was involved in the storming of the U.S. Capitol during the insurrection that took place on Jan. 6, 2021. Isaac Samuel Yoder, of Nevada, Mo., has been charged with several different offenses, which include:
• Knowingly entering or remaining in any restricted building or grounds without lawful authority.
• Disorderly and disruptive conduct in a restricted building or grounds.
• Disorderly conduct in a capitol building.
• Parading, demonstrating, or picketing in a capitol building.
According to the arrest warrant, the warrant was received on July 29, 2021, and Yoder was arrested on Wednesday, Aug. 4, 2021, in Springfield, Mo.
The FBI has released an affidavit on the incident that notes, "On Feb. 26, 2021, an online tip was submitted to the FBI National Threat Operations Center at tips.fbi.gov. The submitted tip stated, 'I was made aware that an individual that works at Yoder locksmith in Nevada, Mo., was involved in the storming of the Capitol on Jan. 6. I am unsure of the gentleman's first name, but know the day of the event he was inside the Capitol and was dressed as George Washington."
On the afternoon of Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, the United States Capitol in Washington, D.C., was stormed during a riot against the U.S. Congress. The insurrection was in response to the results of the 2020 presidential election and occurred to disrupt the joint session of Congress assembled to count electoral votes to formalize President-elect Joe Biden's victory. The Capitol Complex was locked down and lawmakers and staff were evacuated while rioters occupied and vandalized the building for several hours.
Many people were injured during the insurrection, including 138 police officers.
