Gerald Arthur Tremblay

Gerald Arthur Tremblay, 93, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, at his home in Schell City, Mo., following a illness of several months. Gerald was born July 21, 1928, in Fitchburg, Mass., to Napoleon Edward and Josephine Gertrude (Hamel) Tremblay. On April 23, 1955, he was united in marriage to Marie-Paule Fredette in Gardner, Mass., and she survives of the home.

Gerald was raised in Massachusetts and attended school there. He served in the United States Navy at the end of World War II. After his time in the service, he returned to Massachusetts where he spent the next 60 years working as a machinist, a job which included general construction, roofing, and plumbing. Following his retirement, he and Marie lived in Orlando, Fla., from 1990-1995. At that time, the couple bought a farm near Schell City which he farmed until he was 83. He has resided in Schell City for the past 26 years. Gerald was a member of the Church of Israel in Schell City. Past memberships included the American Legion, and Knights of Columbus, both in Gardner, Mass.

In addition to his wife, Marie, he is survived by five children, Diane Finnigan, Schell City, Mo., Mark Tremblay, Schell City, Mo., Bruce Tremblay, Murrells Inlet, S.C., Lisa Enright, Harwood, Mo., and Susan Chiras, Orlando, Fla.; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four siblings, Maurice Tremblay, Mass., Roland Tremblay, Ariz., Robert Tremblay, Ill., and Joyce Rollins, N.H. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son-in-law, CJ “Red” Finnigan; two brothers, John Tremblay, and Arthur Tremblay; and two sisters, Lillian Lacombe, and Evelyn Tremblay.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 19, at the Church of Israel in Schell City with Pastor Dan Gayman officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery, Schell City. The family will receive friends from 6-7:30 p.m., Wednesday, at the Lewis-Hoagland Funeral Home in Schell City.
