Friday, September 17, 2021

The Nevada High School softball team played its third state-ranked team of the week Thursday at Sherwood, and left with a 2-0 victory.

Kirstin Buck shut out the Lady Marskmen (who were 9-0 and ranked no. 1 in Class 2 entering the contest) in 6 1/3 innings in the circle.

Skyler Burns hit a two-out single in the sixth to drive in Nevada's first run, before Bailey Ast hit a two-out double in the next inning to score the second run.

"This was a big win for us," stated NHS head coach Danny Penn, whose team improved to 10-7. "Going 2-1 this week, against three state-ranked teams, is something we can be proud of, while still being hungry to continue getting better."
