John James Spencer, 70, of Nevada, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021, at the Nevada Regional Medical Center in Nevada surrounded by those who loved him the most. John was born on Sept. 18, 1951, in Nevada, to Vern E. and Marjorie (Baker) Spencer.

John grew up in Nevada and graduated from Nevada High School in 1969. He worked for Crane Plumbing in Nevada for 37 years and served as the Plant Manager for his last 17 years retiring in 2009. He later worked for 3M in Nevada for several years. John enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was a skilled carpenter. John was active in the BPOE Elks #564 and also the Eagles Lodges in both Nevada (#3770) and Lamar (#4405). John was an active participant in Elks Bingo and Steak Feeds and was a proud supporter of the Missouri Veteran’s home in Mt Vernon. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nevada.

Survivors include his daughter, Jennifer Householder (Troy) of Nevada; two grandsons, Devon Householder (Sara) and Trevor Householder (Ashley) of Nevada; great-grandchildren, Emma, Hunter, and Chance; his sister, Melba Hogan, of Nevada; several nieces and nephews; and special friends Linda Spencer and Debra Potter. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Butch Spencer.

A memorial service for John will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, Sept. 27, at Ferry Funeral Home in Nevada with the Rev. Jerod Lamb officiating. Contributions may be made in John’s memory to Wounded Warriors in care of Ferry Funeral Home.
