Tuesday, November 30, 2021

Larry Dean Lauderback, age 79, was born April 26, 1942, on the family farm west of Dederick, the son of Wilbur and Agnes Lauderback. He passed from this life on Nov. 27, 2021, in his home.

Larry attended grade school at Dederick and finished high school at El Dorado Springs in 1960. After high school, he joined the U.S. Army Signal Corp., from 1960 until 1963, when he was honorably discharged. He worked during the summers on a survey crew with El Paso Natural Gas Company in the State of Washington. He attended Central Missouri State College for two years. He worked for El Paso Natural Gas Company, Northwest Pipeline, and the Williams Companies for 31 years. When he retired in 1996, he was working as Construction Superintendent in New Mexico.

After he retired, he returned to the family farm to raise cattle. He was happy to make improvements to the land and farm house. He was especially happy when taking good care of all the animals on the farm. Being back on the farm and returning to Larry’s family roots brought him immense joy and happiness. He had great pride that the farm has remained in the family for over a century.

On Nov. 24, 1967, he married Susan Thompson. To this union two boys were born, Michael Dean and Mark Andrew.

Throughout Larry’s life, his hobbies included fishing and hunting. He took very good care of his animals, especially his Britany spaniels and cattle. His father had always said, “If you have animals, you must take care of them.” Larry strived to do this very well. He was also an avid fan of the Chiefs and St. Louis Cardinals.

Larry was proceeded in death by his parents, his brother Donald Lee Lauderback, and his former wife Susan Lauderback. Survivors include his sons, Michael of New Mexico and Mark of Seattle; his three grandchildren, Hunter, Sage, and Kate; and close friend Meg Ballard.

In Larry’s later years, he received care from Jerry Bobbit and Karen Spencer. His family thanks them for their extraordinary care.

Funeral and graveside services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at Sheldon’s Funeral Home in El Dorado. Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. with services to follow.
