Kenneth Dale Hoenshell

Kenneth Dale Hoenshell (88), formerly of Horton, Mo., went to be with the Lord on Monday, Dec. 20, 2021, in his Oak Grove, Mo., home with his wife of 69 years at his side. He was born Jan. 19, 1933, near Harrisonville, Mo., to John Wesley Hoenshell and Mary Elberta (Gibbons) Hoenshell. He married Betty Ellen Risner on Dec. 31, 1952, at Austin Baptist Church and to this union two children were born.

Kenneth was raised in Archie, Mo., and graduated from Archie High School in 1951. In 1954 Kenneth was drafted into the army serving in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1955. He was a farmer all of his life, even while working nights at Bendix in his younger years. From 1957 to 1973 he lived in Garden City, Mo., then purchased his farm and moved to Horton, Mo. For the last three years he has resided in Oak Grove, Mo., to be close to his daughter. Over the years he was active in 4H, school board, road board, water district and church building committee. Kenneth was a Deacon in the Baptist Church from 1965-2005. He enjoyed sharing the gospel with anyone who would listen and was a member of Gideons International. He would help anyone with anything he could spare.

Favorite hobbies included farming with his son, reading the Bible, traveling, flying his private plane, and square dance calling.

In addition to his wife, Betty, of the home, Kenneth is survived by two children, Bonnie Philpott, husband (Steve) near Oak Grove, Mo., and Wyatt Hoenshell, wife (Debbie) near Richards, Mo; four grandchildren, Shawn Hoenshell (Rebecca), Greg Philpott (Heather), Kelly Eaton (Jason), and Tracy Gregory (Brad); and 17 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Roger Dean Hoenshell; and two sisters, Bonnie Rose Hoenshell and Mary Joan Nichols.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 28, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Newton Burial Park. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service at the funeral home.
