Christy Jean (Maus) Goodman, age 44, of Schell City, Mo., the daughter of Charles William Maus and Raejean Thomas was born Sunday, Jan. 23, 1977, in Nevada, Mo., and passed from this life on Friday, Jan. 14, in El Dorado Springs, Mo.

Christy spent most all of her life in Schell City, attending school as a Schell City Bear where she was involved in Basketball, Volleyball, Softball, and Cheerleading and was crowned Homecoming queen. She graduated with the Schell City High School Class of 1995. On March 14, 1997 she was united in marriage to Robert Jared Goodman - they were high-school sweethearts – who had known each other since 1986 when Jared and his family moved back to the Schell City area.

Christy worked for several years as a CNA at Ellett Memorial Hospital in Appleton City then went on to become a certified Phlebotomist, receiving her training while employed there. She also worked for a time with Heartland Hospice based out of Butler before moving on to Culpepper Place in Nevada. She spent many years as a stay-at-home Mom to two daughters and two sons, mowed residential and commercial lawns for a brief time – and most recently had worked at Farmers State Bank in Schell City until its closing in late 2020. She then moved her employment to Community National Bank in El Dorado Springs where she was working at the time of her passing.

In her early years, Christy learned the art of “Cake-Decorating” from her “Aunt Pat Prough” and spent many hours in Pat and Everett’s home learning to create party and wedding cakes until she perfected her talent. She created memories with her confections for many friends and families through the years.

But, the great love of her life - other than her husband, children and grandchildren — was the game of softball, that love for the game was something she surely inherited from her dear Mother. She spent many hours on softball fields near and far – and enjoyed every minute of it. Of special note — In September 2021 when Schell City celebrated its 150 year with their Fall Festival activities, Christy was crowned Queen of that event, something very special to her. Making it even more special was the fact that not only she, but both of her daughters had been crowned Fall Festival Queen in the respective years preceding her win. — She will long be remembered for her kind and friendly manner, her involvement and willingness to help in school and community events, her great laugh and love of life.

Survivors include her husband, Jared, of the home in Schell City; daughters, Cayla Jean Goodman and Nathan Wade of Appleton City, and Logan RaeAnn Goodman and Rayce Johnston of Milo; sons, Robert Bryce Goodman of Camp Lejeune, N.C., and Jackson Theodore Goodman of the home; one granddaughter, Sadie Jean Rose Goodman; one grandson, Raecyn Daniel Dobbs — and two more grandbabies on the way this summer; her brother, Jeremy Maus and wife, Brandi, of Schell City; sister, Becky Hill and husband, Nick, of Appleton City; half-sister, Lacey Miller and husband, A.J., of Kansas City; maternal grandmother, Norma Thomas of Schell City; aunts, Teri Thomas of Schell City and Jackie McCammon and husband, Jason, of Adrian; uncle Jerry Thomas and wife, Michelle, of Hume; nieces, nephews, other relatives and host of many dear friends.
