Mary Lou Basham

Mary Lou Basham, 82, of Nevada, Mo., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022, at the home of her daughter in Deepwater, Mo. Mary Lou was born Feb. 2, 1940, in Hockerville, Okla., to Eugene and Velma Williams.

Mary Lou enjoyed a long career as an LPN and enjoyed taking care of patients at the Nevada Manor and the Nevada Habilitation Center among other places. She was always gardening and doing home improvement projects. When she wasn’t planting flowers, she was generally painting something in her house.

It was often said that Mary Lou never met a stranger. She easily made friends wherever she went and she truly enjoyed being out and about in her community. Her easy smile and friendly face was sure to put people at ease.

Her true love however was her family. Mary Lou was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dale Basham Sr. of Nevada, Mo., and her oldest son Christopher Basham of Nevada, Mo. She has three surviving children and their spouses, Cynthia and Jay Yewell of Deepwater, Mo., Dale and Sherrie Basham of Paso Robles, Calif., Delpha and Casey Crain of Nevada, Mo., and daughter-in-law TaLenna Basham of Richards, Mo.; and grandchildren Jenny Rainey of Shelby Township, Mich., Cyndi Fleming of Washington, D.C., Shelly Maki of Chisholm, Minn., Melanie Signorelli of Lompoc, Calif., Mary MacFarlane of Rochester Hills, Mich., Travis Yewell of Maria, Calif., Brandi Basham of Pittsburg, Kan., Travis Dusek of Paso Robles, Calif., Christa Basham of Richards, Mo., Hannah Lyster of Oronogo, Mo., Devin Linn of Baltimore, Md., and Logan Crain of Carthage, Mo.; 18 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be held Saturday, Feb. 12, from noon to 2 p.m., at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada. The family requests that friends and family come ready to celebrate Mary Lou’s life in accordance with her final wishes and please wear a mask.
