On a late Monday night around 9 p.m., Nevada took on the Harrisonville Wildcats in Harrisonville, Mo for the first round of Districts. The opening round of Districts were kind to both the Nevada Lady Tigers as they won against the Knob Noster Lady Panthers and to the Nevada Tigers as they won against the Harrisonville Wildcats.

First quarter was a dominant quarter by the Tigers, as they took a 15-6 lead over the Wildcats. The most notable thing was #2 Evan Rea shot an impressive three pointer that was about 28 feet from the basket. Heading into the half it was Nevada building on their lead with the score being 23-11 heading into halftime. Third quarter started and the Tigers made the lead to 36-20 over the Harrisonville Wildcats. Finally the fourth quarter ended and the Nevada Tigers won over the Harrisonville Wildcats with a score of 49-32 as they head into the District Semi Finals Tuesday afternoon.

For the Harrisonville Wildcats, their top scorers were #31 Michael Moore with six points, then #44 Alexander Bullock with four points in the ball game, and then wrapping it up is ##3 Miles Middaugh with two points. The Harrisonville Wildcats Head Coach is Jeff Langrehr.

Head Coach for the Nevada Tigers Shaun Gray said “It feels good to see our guys have success and to have our defense play so well. It’s a great stretch of defense from our guys over the last 3 guys, hopefully we continue that tomorrow. Our mentality is ‘why not us?’ and our District is pretty wide open. Barstow is the No.1 seed for a reason, but they are not unbeatable. If we defend for four quarters, rebound well, and hit a few shots, we feel like we have a good shot. We are excited for the opportunity. We are looking forward to seeing a big Nevada faithful on hand Tuesday night to cheer on the boys and girls.”

Like Coach Gray said, the Tigers will face the No. 1 ranked Barstow Knights out of Kansas City. They will play at 7 p.m. tonight at the Harrisonville High School in Harrisonville, MO to see who advances past the District Semi Finals.
