Mary Katherine Jones

Mary Katherine Jones, 68, Nevada, Mo., passed away on Friday, March 4, 2022, at her home in Nevada, following a lengthy illness. Mary was born Aug. 26, 1953, in Camp Lejeune, N.C., to Thomas J. and Mary F. (VanMeter) Shotts. She married Herbert W. Jones Sr. on June 11, 1999, in Miami, Okla., and he survives of the home.

Mary grew up living in various places while her father served in the U.S. Marine Corps. She has lived in Nevada since 1976. Mary worked at the State Hospital in Nevada for five years, and at Peerless Products for 15 years until her retirement in 2009. She attended the Corner Stone Baptist Church in Nevada. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, fishing, playing Bingo, and going to the casino, and especially loved spending time with her family, children, and grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, Herbert, she is survived by four children, Robert E. King (Tiffany Willis), Nevada, Crystail King, Nevada, Rosemary Bell, Nevada, and Herbert Jones Jr. (Karrie), Nevada; nine grandchildren; three sisters, Ruth Eckerman (Jerry), St. Louis, Mo., Linda Deogracias (Herman), Cutoff, La., and Carol Wilson (Jim), Nevada; two brothers, John Shotts, Fort Scott, and Roy Shotts (Carol), Nevada; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 10, at Ferry Funeral Home, in Nevada, with Pastor Rick Thomspon officiating. Interment will follow in Moore Cemetery, Nevada. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.
